About the Journal
Anesthesia and perioperative medicine play a crucial role in improving patient outcomes and ensuring the safety of surgical procedures. The East African region has a significant burden of surgical disease, with millions of people requiring surgical interventions each year. However, despite the importance of anesthesia in ensuring safe surgical care, the region lacks a dedicated anesthesia and perioperative journal to document and disseminate research findings, clinical experiences, and innovations in the field.
Recognizing this need, the Ethiopian Association of Anesthetists (EAA) has taken the initiative to establish the Ethiopian Journal of Anesthesia and Perioperative Medicine (EAJAPM), a peer-reviewed, open-access journal that aims to promote the practice and development of anesthesia and related fields in Ethiopia and the wider East African region. The EAA, which was founded in 1992, is a professional organization representing anesthetists in Ethiopia and has a mission to promote excellence in the practice of anesthesia and to advocate for the highest standards of patient care.
The establishment of the EAJAPM is a crucial step towards achieving these goals, as it will provide a platform for anesthetists, researchers, and other healthcare professionals in the region to share their experiences and research findings, discuss emerging trends and issues in the field, and contribute to the development of anesthesia practice and policy in East Africa. By providing a forum for the exchange of ideas and the dissemination of knowledge, the EAJAPM will help to strengthen the capacity of anesthetists and other healthcare professionals in the region, enhance the quality of anesthesia care, and improve patient outcomes. The EAJAPM seeks to publish original research articles, review articles, case reports, and other scholarly works related to anesthesia and related fields such as critical care, pain management, and perioperative medicine. The journal welcomes submissions from researchers, clinicians, and other healthcare professionals working in anesthesia and related fields, both within Ethiopia and internationally.
The Manuscript Preparation section of the EAJAPM guideline document will provide detailed information on how to format and structure a manuscript for submission. It will include guidelines on the length of articles, the font and spacing requirements, and the preferred format for figures and tables. Authors will also find guidance on how to structure their manuscripts, including advice on how to write the introduction, methods, results, and discussion sections of their research papers.
